About This Event This event is a part of the joint project ‘Solar Energy for a Decarbonised Future – Knowledge Transfer for Environmental Education and Awareness (SolAware)’ between University of Mosul and Teesside University. The project is funded by the British Council, Research Environments Grants 2023-24.  The training provides a theoretical and practical skills through summer training for undergraduate students of both colleges of Engineering and Sciences. The training will take a place at the central lab at College of Science during the month of July-2024. It will improve their skills and knowledge for those who are interested in renewable energy and sustainability from the College of Engineering or Science.

Promoting Solar Energy Education and Sustainability: Our Team’s Participation in a Key Training Course

We are thrilled to announce that as part of the SolAware project’s ongoing efforts to provide training and raise awareness about solar energy, our team recently participated in a three-day training course titled “Solar Energy and its Role in Enhancing Occupational Safety: Challenges and Solutions.” The training, which began on July 9, 2024, was conducted under the esteemed patronage of Professor Dr. Qusay Kamal al-Din al-Ahmadi, President of the University of Mosul. The event was expertly supervised by Dr. Saba Altaee, Director of the Environmental Research Centre. The event, which was held at the interview hall/building of the University Presidency of Mosul, was attended by numerous participants from various departments at the University of Mosul and the Nineveh Governorate. The session was chaired by our team director, Assistant Professor Dr. Rawaa Qasha, Director of the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations, representing the University Presidency, and Assistant Professor Taha Ahmed Al-Tayyar, a lecturer at the Environmental Research Centre. Our team member Dr. Saba Altaee welcomed the attendees with an opening speech, followed by a brief presentation on the training course lectures and the importance of solar energy. The first day of the training course featured two valuable lectures presented by team members Dr. Omar Abdulwahid, and Dr. Salwan Samir Sabry. Our participation in this training session demonstrates our commitment to supporting education and creating awareness about solar energy’s benefits for the society.

   Date and time for the first week   ▪ Monday at 10:00 am on the 1st of July (Induction to solar cell technology, cleaning process and Lithography) (online via zoom) This session will cover induction to solar cells including their types and how to build up solar cell devices. Also, it will present the cleaning process and Lithography that are required in the manufacturing of Solar cells. Additionally, it will show the important factors affecting sputtered layers. Besides, it displays the wet transfer process needed to transfer CVD graphene onto Si substrates to complete the graphene/Si Schottky junction solar cells. Among the sustainability development goals is the seventeenth goal

Among the sustainability development goals is the seventeenth goal. The goal of the partnerships and within the University of Mosul partnerships and memorandums of understanding. The university’s partnership with the British government’s Teesside University. Reviewing this participation was present in the development of the two-week continuation of the university and the presence of the project team agreed upon between the two aforementioned universities.

Manufacturing of solar cells

Manufacturing of solar cells   Location Online Date and time Monday at 9:00 am on 1st July (Induction to the clean room and cleaning process) This session will cover full induction of the clean room used to prepare nano and micro devices. It will also display the important equipment employed in the manufacturing of Solar cells.   Wednesday at 9:00 am on 3th July (Lithography) It will display the process needed to create patterns of semiconductors, metals and insulator onto specific areas of Si substrates.   Monday at 9:00 am on 8th July (Sputtering process) The session will show the sputtering process of metals and insulators needed to prepare Si solar cells. Besides, it will show the important factors affect on sputtered layers.   Wednesday at 9:00 am  on10th July (Wet transfer process of CVD graphene) It will present the wet transfer process needed to transfer CVD graphene onto Si substrates.   Lecturer Dr. Ahmed Muneer About This Event This event will present the manufacturing of graphene/Si Schottky junction solar cells. Project launch workshop 

The University of Mosul organized a workshop to launch the joint project “Solar Energy for a Decarbonised Future – Knowledge Transfer for Environmental Education and Awareness (SolAware)’ project, which is funded by the British Council, Research Environments Grants 2023-24”  in cooperation with Teesside University and the support of the British Council on Sunday, March 10, 2024, in the presence of the President of the University of Mosul, Dr.  Qusay Al-Ahmadi and a delegation from the British Council in Iraq, headed by the Director of the Council, Mr. Bin, and representatives of Nineveh Governorate and a number of government departments and local organizations with an interest in the subject of the project. The deans of the faculties of engineering and science, and professors and students participating in the project’s activities, were also present.  The workshop included a detailed explanation of the project stages by the project manager from the University of Teesside, Dr.  Maher Al-Greer and members of the work team from the University of Mosul, as well as an introduction to the two partner universities and the capabilities and goals that it is hoped to achieve through implementing activities inside and outside the university in the service of society and the environment. @facebook
